UA Sign Small

Letter from the Provost

Dear Faculty and Staff:

One of the most important facets of The University of Alabama’s approach to student well-being is education. As concerns about students in distress have grown on college campuses nationwide, we want to help you access information, tools and resources that can assist you in reaching out to distressed students in ways that are recommended by mental health experts.

In addition to the Counseling Center, the Student Health Center and the Women’s Resource Center, UA now offers MentalHealthEdu, an online training course that explores signs that are commonly exhibited by students in distress and offers suggestions on how to connect those students with appropriate campus resources. The course takes approximately 30 minutes and is presented in three interactive modules.

I encourage you to take the course, and to become familiar with the resources and options available to assist distressed students.

Sincerely,

Judy Bonner
Provost and Executive Vice President
